Meaning "Christmas for the Youth"Kalikimaka o na Opiopio is the annual Christmas/Holiday gift project of Friends of the Children of West Hawaii for children in our community who have been abused or neglected, are in foster care, homeless, low income, or otherwise unlikely to receive a gift during the holiday season due to hardship. Each year children are invited to request assistance from Friends of the Children of West Hawaii through social workers, school counselors, mental health specialists, and other youth serving professionals. Plans for the 2018 project include expanding to allow children and parents to make requests directly to Friends of the Children of West Hawaii through our website.

Following the request deadline Friends of the Children of West Hawaii publishes a "WISH LIST" which is shared with donors and members of the community in the hopes that requested items will be donated. Items that are requested but not donated are purchased using donated funds to Friends of the Children of West Hawaii.

Both information on requesting assistance for a child in need as well as information on items requested for those who might be willing to make a donation will be posted to the Friends of the Children of West Hawaii website between October and November of 2018.
